land_cruiserAs a self-professed SUV girl I was on cloud nine driving the Land Cruiser. Its big, powerful, fun, safe…all the things you look for in a man…oops I mean a SUV. All jokes aside, the Land Cruiser is the best of both worlds. Rugged off road driving or engaging everyday excursions; take your pick.

The Land Cruiser is perfect for the urban city dweller. Most SUVs on city streets biggest obstacle would be potholes and finding adequate parking. The exterior of the Land Cruiser has very commanding persona; one not to be messed with or bullied on the road. Everything is bold on the Land Cruiser from the front chrome grille to the chiseled side profile and rear end. Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers, The Halogen Headlights with Washers (handy after those muddy road trips or getting rid of the bugs that zigged when they should have zagged), Power Moonroof, Roof Racks and a snazzy Rear Spoiler give the Land Cruiser a style all its own. But the Land Cruiser is far more than a powerful presence with rugged good looks.

Driving the Land Cruiser was amazing. With so much power for such a lil’ lady; I had to check in my superpowers on exiting the Land Cruiser…every time! The 5.7 V8 DOHC 32V engine, packing 381 ponies constantly rose to the occasion whenever needed at the press of the pedal. While there aren’t many treacherous driving conditions is Los Angeles (proper), the Hill-Start Assist Control & Crawl function served me well on the dreaded Sunset and LaCienega intersection. Causing many manual transmission drivers’ brow to bead and lip to quiver, the seemingly perpendicular hill was no challenge for the Land Cruiser.

The interior of the Land Cruiser is really plush. While the 8-passenger Leather-Trimmed Seats, Push to Start Keyless Entry, Power Tilt/Telescopic Steering Column, JBL Sound System with 6-Disc Changer and 4 Zone A/C are standard, the Upgrade Package kicks up the Land Cruiser another notch. Voice –Activated DVD Nav System with Back-Up Camera, Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System with 9-inch Monitor, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel and Shift Lever and Wood-Grain Style inserts takes add to the overall style and luxury of the Land Cruiser.

The only downside for some may be the $74K price tag and the 13/18 mileage. But for those who aren’t fazed by sticker or the pump…enjoy this urban warrior.
